acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the world’s oldest medical procedures. It originated in China more than 2000 years ago. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) views the body as a balance of yin (negative) and Yang (positive). When there is an imbalance there is a blockage of “qi” (vital energy) along paths known as meridians. Acupuncture points on the body connect with the meridians and when stimulated restore balance. Since the 1970’s acupuncture has grown in popularity in the United States. It is used for relief or prevention of pain. Very thin, sterile, single use needles are used. Some of the conditions acupuncture has been shown to be effective in treating are osteoarthritis, low back pain, headache, tennis elbow etc.
